Material Tables at Food 4 Future

A tasteful and inspiring day for companies and designers!
This meeting was based on Material Tables, and designed and directed by Material Sense and Happiefood, in assignment of Food 4 Future. This workshop connected the networks of Food companies and designers in the food region of Brabant.

On the 28th of August 2008, Food companies Ariza, Groentehof, Ad van Geloven, Heibloem, Peka Kroef, Maison van den Boer, and the designers Annelies Hermsen, Franke Elshout, Djenny Brugmans, Eva Arts, Niels van Marle, Bas Burki and students FoodDesign from the HAS Den Bosch, were invited to take part in the workshop ‘Food for Inspiration and Innovation'.
Designers Simone de Waart (Material Sense) and Caroline van den Bemt (Happiefood) inspired the participants with examples of ‘food as material' and a tasty food experience. Special guest Ton Teerling (Syngenta) spoke about scent and taste psychology and 'recognition' for consumers.

‘A great day contributing to new and interesting contacts between companies and designers, gaining more insights in the requirements of the companies' (Jacqueline Lanting, Food consultant). ‘The pleasant atmosphere was striking' (Director Dick van der Star from the brand new location De Groene Campus). ‘Good to brainstorm with people from different disciplines, it should happen more often in daily practice' (Robert Danse, product developer Maison van den Boer). ‘Because of the feedback from designers, you notice more possibilities for your own product and current company ideas' (Albert de Hollander, marketing-sales manager, Covelt/Ariza. ‘You get to know how a company works, what problems they face in daily practice and where their focus is set on' (Designer Djenny Brugmans). ‘A very positive, learning experience, the first time I did something like this' (Harrie Beekmans, owner of Heibloem). ‘The fanatical way companies started this process, gives a positive feeling for the future'. (Harry Faasen, member of FoodConnectionPoint). ‘This day has a lot of opportunities to grow further in order to really support and drive innovation!' (Designer Bas Burki).
