Textielwarenkast (Collection of resources for Textiles)
Past Present and Future in "Textielwarenkast" - Collection resources for Textiles
A premanent display of 38 materials showing materials properties, processing and application possibilities; the 'Textielwarenkast' is finished and ready to be viewed and touched!Ā Composed by Simone de Waart, commisioned by the Audax Textile Museum, the collection is set up for educational purposes, for fashion and textile students, and museum visitors.
After extensive research through the inherited TNO collection, which exended until the end of the seventies, the collection was curated and updated with current and future resources for textile production. It paints a vivid picture of the history and future from raw ingredients, to yarns, up to final applications that all together presents the specific material characteristics. From wool to synthetic fibers made out of corn starch, from woven paper carpet to light conductive textiles. The cabinet is on permanent display at the library of Audax Textile Museum Tilburg.
The accompanying book (in Dutch) 'Grondstoffen voor textiel, gisteren vandaag en morgen' is now available at the Textile Museum shop.
