textielwarenkast

Client: Dutch Textile Museum Tilburg

A permanent display of around 40 materials showing materials properties, processing and application possibilities of resources for textiles, manmade and natural. Made to be touched!

Simone de Waart extensively investigated in the inherited TNO collection, and curated, completed and designed the whole collection with current and future resources for textile production. It paints a vivid picture of the history and future from raw ingredients, to yarns, up to final applications that all together presents the specific material characteristics. From wool to synthetic fibres made out of corn starch, from woven paper carpet to light conductive textiles. The cabinet is on permanent display at the library of the museum and the eponymous publication is also available at the museum shop and online..
