A permanent display of 38 materials showing materials properties, processing and application possibilities of resources for textiles. Made to be touched!
Simone de Waart extensively investigated in the inherited TNO collection, and curated, completed and updated the whole collection with current and future resources for textile production. It paints a vivid picture of the history and future from raw ingredients, to yarns, up to final applications that all together presents the specific material characteristics. From wool to synthetic fibres made out of corn starch, from woven paper carpet to light conductive textiles. The cabinet is on permanent display at the library of Textile Museum Tilburg and the eponymous publication is also available (see below).
